Here is a quick list of five things you really should know before purchasing your machine ...

1. Plastic Combs are available in twelve different colors, including Black, White, Clear, dark blue, dark green, Maroon, Royal Blue, Kelly Green, red, yellow, brown and gray. If one of these colors work for your company and your color scheme, it will be great. However, if you think you might need a different color than you probably should look for a different binding style. Plastic combs can be ordered in custom colors. However, the minimum order would be at least 10,000 pieces per size (a custom plastic extrusion is required) and the cost is usually quite high. This is definitely something you should consider before buying your machine.

2. Most plastic combs that you buy in the U.S. are 19 rings of 11 "standard size documents. If you plan in binding documents that are 11 "or smaller than the plastic combs are easy to find. However, if they will require longer documents custom length combs are required. Often these combs are available in black and only requires time as well as lead. If your organization is joining many legal or 11 "x 17" documents in the long sides, this is definitely something to consider.

3. If you are planning on binding documents with plastic comb binding machine that are shorter or more of 11 "most likely need a machine with disengageable dies. This simply means that your computer must have the capacity to be able to tell one or more of the piercing pins not to drill. If you try not to drill a standard paper size on a machine without disenageable die, discover that the document has a hanging hole on the edge of the document. If you plan on joining any landscape or documents binding letter of documents about half the size that you definitely want to make sure the machine has this feature.

4. The best plastic comb binding machines have an adjustable depth control stroke margin. This is simply a control that allows you to determine how close the edge of their holes role will be. This control is important when binding very small books and oversized books. For books of their holes have to be closer to the edge of the document to ensure that the pages turn freely. For the great books, its pages need to be further from the edge of the book to the weight of the document because the book's pages to boot.

5. Plastic comb binding spines come in two different ways. Combs to 1-1/8 "in diameter, are round. However, for documents that are 1-1/4 "or more plastic combs are round and have two or three special locks. These blocks help to ensure that the weight of the pages do not cause the pages to fall out if you select the document by the spine. Some of the plastics BINDING smaller and cheaper machines are not designed to open the oval-shaped plastic combs so if you think you shall bind larger documents you will need to ensure that you have a machine that can handle.
